John, and his wife Joan, had lived in their Castle Donington home for nearly 19 years. They loved the location as they had the best of both worlds being near the countryside but close enough to East Midland’s city centre locations for shopping and entertainment. But, with a very large garden to maintain, the retired couple decided that whilst they still both had their health, it was time for a move to prepare for their future.
Not wanting to move far from family or friends, nor change their doctor or the hospital they frequently visited for ongoing health needs, John and Joan began their property search in their local area. “We decided that a retirement village would suit us best with no garden or maintenance responsibilities. We are both in our 70’s now, so something low maintenance was on the top of our wish list,” explains John.
Their search brought the couple to a stunning Richmond Villages, in Aston-on-Trent, where a first floor, two bed apartment caught their eye. “We fell in love with the apartment straight away, the layout was perfect for us as it had an open plan kitchen and lounge area, along with a beautiful balcony overlooking the garden. It was nice to be able to see the garden, but not have to worry about the maintenance,” said John.
John and Joan wanted to go ahead on the apartment and make the move as soon as possible. “We didn’t have our property on the market when we first found the Richmond Villages apartment. We did have someone who expressed an interest in buying our property privately, but with the market being so volatile, we worried about the sale falling through or taking too long and running the risk of us missing out on the apartment we loved,” said John. “Knowing our situation, Richmond Villages suggested we consider their Part-Exchange service with their partner Spring instead. This was appealing to us as it meant we would simply sell to Spring and eliminate any delays or risk of fall throughs.”
“We had heard of homebuying companies before-hand, but we researched Spring online and visited their website, and following the recommendation from Richmond, we decided to go ahead with the Part-Exchange route. Spring made the PX offer quickly, we knew it wouldn’t be the full market value but the offer worked for us, so we accepted and things then progressed quickly and efficiently,” said John.
With their sale guaranteed with Spring, and no risk of fall through, John and Joan where able to make arrangements and plan the move into their new Richmond Villages. “We where able to book a removal company and make plans knowing our sale wouldn’t fall through, plus we got to choose our completion date which was ideal. We completed prior to Christmas, but because of the holidays we decided to remain in the property until the beginning of January, principally because the removal companies were all on shut down,” commented John.
Now all moved in, John and Joan are fully embracing life in their new Richmond Villages community. “Moving day went without any hitches at all, we were moved in by lunch time and received a very warm welcome from all the staff at Richmond Village. They bought us a lovely lunch, followed by a delivery of champagne, flowers and a basket of provisions to tide us over. We were fully settled-in within two weeks, everything was packed away and all removal boxes collected by the removers,” said John. “I was pleased that we used Spring and the move went through in a little over 4 weeks to suit our timeframe. We are now two months into our move and are very pleased by the way it went. We understand the old property is now under offer and look forward to sharing the excess profit agreed thanks to the Spring Price Promise. Well done Spring.”
All the Spring team are delighted to hear the move went so well and wish you both every happiness in your new Richmond Villages home.
