Spring will close for the festive period 5.30pm on Tuesday 24th December, and our offices will re-open 9am Thursday 2nd January 2025. From all the Spring team, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

There are many reasons for moving home, a new job, to downsize, change of scenery…the list goes on; but if your move is motivated by deteriorating health, then it can be beneficial to move closer to family to get the help and support needed.

With the time to sell a property in the UK averaging 23 weeks (from listing to completion, according to Spring’s MOVESMART data platform), if time is of the essence due to poor health, then being able to move quickly and easily can be all the more important.

Martin and his wife Shelia, both suffering with health issues, decided it was the right time to sell their East Sussex home, so they could move nearer the family and have help locally when they needed it. “We really liked the look of our house when we first bought it 2 years ago, it was in a lovely location. Sheila and I enjoyed spending time in the garden, it had a fantastic aspect and was very peaceful. The house was in a quiet area, but it was still easy getting out and about thanks to being close to the main roads in and around East Sussex,” explained Martin.

Starting the process

Martin and Sheila’s family also lived in East Sussex, but on the other side of the county, so they wanted their move to take them much nearer and within walking distance. “We wanted a quality new build property and found a fantastic development close to our family that ticked all the boxes for us. The plot we liked was a 4-bed detached, with a good size garden, double garage, and excellent driveway parking,” said Martin.

A smooth move

With health issues to contend with, Martin and Sheila found the thought of selling their home and hosting viewings a daunting prospect, so when they found the new build property they wanted to go ahead on, the team on site discussed the options available to the couple that would simplify their move and assist their situation.

“We didn’t want to deal with viewings or manage estate agents, it wasn’t the best scenario for us. The site offered Part-Exchange through Spring and it was ideal. We wanted an easy move without having to worry about the sale of our home, plus it meant we could move when it suited us and not have to wait,” said Martin. “We got the offer within 2 weeks and the process started quickly once everything was agreed. Shah and Simon from Spring provided us with good customer service keeping us updated on the progression of our sale.”

As a standard feature, customers are offered a free license to occupy as part of the Part-Exchange service, which gives home sellers an extra 14 days post completion to access their existing property and the new property at the same time, which Martin and Sheila found particularly helpful. “The license to occupy was perfect, it allowed us more time to get our things together, clean the house and make it look its best for Spring to market it.”

A new chapter

Martin and Sheila are slowly settling into their new home and being close to family has given them the peace of mind they wanted from the move. “The move all went to plan with no holdups. We’ve had a few snagging items come up but nothing major, and the developer and site manager have been very quick at sorting any issues,” said Martin. We are very happy we’ve made the move and the team at Spring ultimately did what we wanted, being ahead of the game most of the time and did an excellent job.”
